The Leda Swan Rug is part of a very small flock - only nine exist. Designed in collaboration with Cape Town artist Maggie Murray of Carvel Tattoo, it brings her bold, illustrative style into the world of hand-tufted rugs.
The design takes its name from the Greek myth of Leda and the Swan - a story that’s been painted, sculpted, and reimagined for centuries
Like all hand-tufted wool rugs, each one is slightly unique. Variations in the wool bring texture and depth, reminding you that this isn’t a factory-made copy but the work of skilled artisans in Jaipur, India. The mix of wool and cotton keeps it durable while making it easy to maintain with regular vacuuming.
The size and curved arch shape make this a versatile piece. In a living room, it anchors the space without overpowering it. In a bedroom, it adds colour and character underfoot. It also plays well with different interiors - layered into a maximalist home full of patterns, or used as the focal point in a more pared-back setting.
Because only nine were made, the Leda Swan Rug isn’t the sort of piece you’ll see everywhere. Once they’re gone, the design retires with them. That makes it a rare find for anyone looking for unique wool rugs in South Africa - a rug that has story, craft, and personality woven straight into it.
