Hand-Tufted Rug Care For Your Wool Rug

Taking care of your rug isn’t complicated. A little common sense (and a bit of restraint) goes a long way. These hand-tufted wool rugs are made to last - but like anything good, they prefer to be treated properly.

Water: Big no. These wool rugs do not enjoy moisture. It’s a rug, not a towel.

Shedding: Totally normal. All hand-tufted wool rugs shed at first. Give it 20–25 vacuums and things settle down. This is part of owning a proper wool rug - not a defect.

Sunlight: Direct sunlight can cause fading over time. If you want to keep colours looking sharp, avoid harsh, constant sun or rotate your rug now and then.

Wrinkles: Just unrolled your rug? It needs a minute. Give it a week or two to relax. You can reverse-roll it if you’re impatient.

Loose threads: Don’t pull. Ever. Trim gently with scissors and carry on with your day.

Spills: Blot, don’t scrub. No washing machines. No tumble dryers. For proper rug cleaning, use a professional cleaner who knows wool rugs.

Furniture: Dragging furniture across your rug is a crime. Lift it. Your rug will live longer, and you’ll feel like a decent person.
